She felt numb and depressed at the same time. Looking out the window of the cab, she saw very few people. All she could see were cars. Buildings. More cars. She longed for people. For her family. For her mom, who, just moments ago, had been with her to the doctor.

She wasn’t given a death sentence. No. Quite the opposite. But the fact that she had to gulp down 3 huge tablets a day for two months when she had never been able to successfully gulp tablets down before without trying to hypnotize herself first…

…this was torture.

And then from the back of her mind escaped those three words that she thought… that she swore would never come from her…

Why me, God?

And then she cried.
